    ITV Three-Terminal Fuses

ITV three-terminal fuses provide overcurrent and overvoltage protection to portable rechargeable Li-ion batteries. An embedded heater ensures the fuse blows when signals from integrated circuits or field effect transistors (FETs) indicate current or voltage surges occurred. By acting as surge suppressors, ITV three-terminal fuses prevent overcharging that can irreparably damage rechargeable batteries. The small size of the fuses makes them good choices for battery protection in power tools, laptops, and robotic vacuum cleaners.

Automotive - PolySwitch® Resettable PPTC Devices

Automotive – PolySwitch® Resettable PPTC Devices

Solid-state PolySwitch® PPTC bladed devices are resettable fuses. They act like resistors, lowering the flow of current as they heat up in response to an overcurrent. Once the overcurrent abates and the temperature of the PolySwitch fuse lowers, current resumes flowing. The small size and high reliability of these bladed resettable fuses make them ideal for protecting thin wires connected to micro motors for power windows, power mirrors, sunroofs and seat controls where fuse boxes are impractical.

    • ELV compliant
    • Certified lead-free and RoHS compliant
    • Designed for serial placement along wiring harnesses, reducing need for fuse boxes
    • Will reset unless experiencing massive amperage overload
    • Enable use of thinner wires
    • Proven to perform reliably in harsh environments
    • Suited for high-volume electronics assembly

    Telecom & Line-Rated

    Telecom & Line-Rated

PolySwitch® telecom resettable PPTCs protect telephony and networking equipment from damage due to short-lived high-voltage fault currents. As resettable fuses, the polymer positive temperature coefficient devices also provide overcurrent protection. One example of what these PPTCs do is open circuits after lightning strikes causes massive overvoltage events. The resettable fuses also respond quickly to surges of inductive current and to power crosses when T1 lines contact ac power lines.

    TD & Chip Resettable

TD and chip resettable PPTC fuses provide short circuit and overcurrent protection in small automotive motors such as those for power windows and seat adjusters. “TD” stands for “terminal device.” This indicates the polymer positive temperature coefficient devices install as close to motor windings as possible. That placement ensures the resettable automotive fuses trip quickly when overcurrent events or short circuits threaten to cause thermal damage. Since electric motors inside vehicles take all shapes and sizes, Littelfuse works with manufacturers to custom design TD and chip resettable fuses for each application.

Surface Mount – PolySwitch® Resettable PPTC Devices

Surface mount PolySwitch® resettable PPTC fuses solder onto printed circuit boards. The surface mount devices employ polymer positive temperature coefficient technology to protect electronic components and integrated circuits from inrushes of current. Since the SMD fuses only blow when massively overloaded, they rarely require replacement. The resettable fuses’ miniature and subminiature sizes make them ideal choices when space is limited, such as in mobile phones, portable medical devices, and USB peripherals. Littelfuse also offers AEC-Q200-qualified surface mount PPTC fuses for automotive applications.

    PolySwitch® Resettable PPTC Devices

PolySwitch® and POLYFUSE® resettable devices from Littelfuse provide reliable overcurrent protection in automotive, telecommunication, and power supply applications. The solid state polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) devices increase in resistance as their elements heat. This ensures current flows safely and keeps the fuse from blowing. We offer surface mount, low-resistance, bladed, radial leaded, line voltage rated, and battery strap resettable fuses. Our TD and Chip PolySwitch devices are ideal for use with small motors for vehicle windows and seat controls.

    Automotive - Reflowable Thermal Protectors

Reflowable thermal protectors (RTPs) for automotive applications provide overtemperature protection in much the same way that automotive fuses provide overcurrent protection. RTPs open when the temperature of the circuit in which it is included rises above a set point that is much higher than the maximum safe operating temperature of the circuit. Littelfuse makes AEC-Q200–qualified automotive RTPs optimized for mounting on printed circuit boards and protecting batteries. The devices can also be used to protect temperature-sensitive electronics in data centers and telecommunications systems.
